It's really a shame, too, speaking from a railfan perspective. Of all the transcontinental routes, the Milwaukee Road's was the most interesting, I think. Another one of those things I wish I had been able to railfan, but alas, the last of it occured 6 B.C. (Before Chris!)

31 years ago on June 15, 1974 CMSP&P electrics E-73 and E-20 brought train 264 into Deer Lodge. Steeple cab E-82 switched a few cars and it was over. RIP.
