TRENTON NEW JERSEY is BAD

I like North Philadelphia Station-------was recently rebuilt. From pictures ive seen Cleveland ohio is bad.

No rail station is ugly............If a train rolls by and especially if a passenger train stops there it is a wonderful sight.

Sounds like Williams Junction, Arizona.... nothing but a cement platform and one sign indicating the town name. Probably the worst one in that case would be Essex, Montana, which literally has nothing, not even a platform to speak of.... [:(]

Chemult, Oregon, is an Amshack, and just has a little bit of asphalt. Plus I got stung there when there was a broken rail in the pass.

Raleigh, NC where they took a very nice red brick Southern RR station and made it real ugly with a cinder block and modern style glass expansion on the track side, and then since the cinder blocks were gray, they just painted the whole building gray.

The ugliest Amtrak Station in the US , that I know of has to be North Philadelphia, but then again you get to see lots of Amtrak, Septa, and NJT power. That's better than nothing. I guess. lol

I think this one's the winner! RIP (original) Penn Station.

Salt Lake City's Amtrak station used to be in part of the old Rio Grande station, which is now a museum. The current Amtrak station in SLC looks like a couple of boxes stuck together. Eventually, a multi-use station (Amtrak, light rail, bus) will be finished not too far away from the current Amtrak station, and will incorporate some old railroad freight terminal buildings.

Exchange Street station in Buffalo reminds me of a souped up portable classroom with stucco.

Not particularly ugly but definitely sad was the deteriorating station on BN at Burlington IA in the 1980's. The station was built by CB&Q in the 1950's and looked like it had seen better days.
The daily commute is part of everyday life but I get two rides a day out of it. Paul

Rensselaer, Indiana has an Amshack that is pretty discouraging to look at. The old Amshack station in St. Louis wasn't that great but it looks like it had a larger waiting room than the new station. Could someone check that out for us forum watchers, please?

While traveling the Sunset route I went past several stations in Arizona and New Mexico that were unpainted and boarded up buildings that had a simple pay phone tacked to the wall facing the tracks.
Now, those were ugly. The wood was old and rotten and certainly only the termites holding hands kept the building from falling down.

Lafayette, Louisiana. Amtrak stops at a concrete walkway filled with weeds where once a beautiful depot stood before it burned to the ground.....

[#ditto]

Thought of that one even before I opened the topic. Tomah, WI could be added and then Portage only has the Plexi-Glass wind break. (Nice parking lot, though).

Ugliest Amtrak Station
Posted by eolafan on Monday, June 6, 2005 6:21 PM
How about voting for your choice for the award as the "Ugliest Amtrak Station" in the country. Mine has to be one that is also in some ways my favorite (due to it being very old and still serving passengers on a daily basis...actually about eight to ten times a day....STURTEVANT, WISCONSIN[xx(]

PS: They really should do something about the Sturtevant station before it falls down on top of somebody.
