What is the difference between a standard wide cab and a gull winged wide cab? I have seen articles that mention both kinds but with no explanation of the differences

You have most likely seen these on BNSF ( ex Santa Fe ) locomotives. They were originally used in coal train service, and were built this way to make it easier for them to clear the loading silos at the mines. Otherwise they are identical to the standard wide cab. Hope this helps.
