NS is looking for them in Detroit all the time. Maybe because all of them leave to go work for CSX. CSX is hiring pro-conductors also in Detroit. RailAmerica is alway looking for train service people.

Watch the BNSF web site and UP daily. Also are you sure you want to do this?
I am a conductor and am about to be laid off soon. Once a year if i like it or not.
