Ok, I will be the gruff one.

Looking at the big picture, its PR damage control from the railfan inncident earliar this year.

They must have taken a line from the movie End of the Line.

A wonderful gesture and story. Brought tears to my eyes. When I get home from work, I am going to hug my little 4 y.o railfan.

METRA needs to be thanked for this wonderful gesture.

I was brought to tears by this story, I hope the powers that be will someday realize that us railfans are a rare breed and, for the most part, friend...not foe... nor terrorist!

The Chicago Tribune carried a story this week regarding Metra recently naming a locomotive after a young fan who died of a brain tumor. As a parent its a tough story to read, but it was very nice of Metra to do this for the family and in memory of this little guy. Here's one to watch for next time you're in Chicagoland.
