Maybe just maybe we were listening and can appreciate a good add when we see one. Another way of saying it would be that GE finally believes enough in the railroad business to acturally run a pretty good ad. Worth thinking about would'nt you say?[2c]

Yes maybe bad choice of words would have been better if i said you never mentioned etc... but even the evo units are junk. if GE ever makes a good engine again then ill have something to say nice about them.

I used to go to every show they did within a 100 mile radius of LA. The one I went to at the Rose Bowl in Pasadina had 70,000 in attendance. We set off the richter scale that night!!!

The GE ad was just on NBC during Leno, quite the surprise!!

Forget the Toasters, give me a real loco, bring back ALCo. [;)]

Congrats Jordan on the new job. Way to Go. [:)]

Hey thanks Jim!
Being the youngest guy out here, I get a lot of crap, but hey it's worth it.

That's why I'd go with a EMD right now. GMAC is doing up to 72 mos at 0% financing (in lieu of the 2000 cash back) on new vehicles (excluding Corvettes, Hummers, and SSRs)......so can't beat that...

Yeah, but the SD70ACe is an ugly looking locomotive when compared to GE's offerings. Might as well ride in something that looks halfway decent. [;)]
Too bad the camera doesn't linger a bit longer on the GE loco before the commercial ends. Wonder if there's an option for a sunroof and a six disc CD changer?? [:D]

I think I am the only one in America who likes the look of the SD-70ACe. I think it has a rugged look--not unlike the original geep. For some reason, I find the GEs to have a generic look.

Tomato Tomato I guess,

Gabe

Gabe........I am with you all the way......so now the count is two people likeing the SD70ACe. They just look powerfuland can really pull (if they really can I don't know, I am assuming so since they have AC traction motors). Not to mention the nothced corners of the nose is an big plus..........(ALCo trademark), I am just waiting till UP sends one into town by me...I am going to be all over that.

I believe the notches were to aid visibility of a brakeman standing on the steps

I thought the simulated old movie footage of a cheering crowd in victorian garb suddenly being blasted with stack smoke and then having frowning Al Jolsen faces was pretty comical.

You got a point there Jim. I might add that I have been a Metalica fan science Cliff Burton. I just thought it was an odd place for a gevo spot.

Is that the reflective sign you were talking about a while ago in your signature? Man that is intense.

Finally! A locomotive for the common man!

You can have any color you want as long as it's black.

I'll have to build a shed for mine next to the offshore oil platform I'm going to get from Kerr-McGee.

I wonder if my landlord would be upset.

And then there was the born-again rail exec who wrote GE a letter saying that he'd never buy a locomotive named "Evolution."

GE got the sale when a bright guy in the sales department told him that for him they'd rebadge the locomotive, "Creationism."

Make that three...the GEs are starting to look like something off of Star Trek...or Battle Star Galactica....
EMDs look like a locomotive, rough and ready.

I love the smell of ALCo smoke in the Morning. "Long live the 251!!!" I miss the GBW and my favorite uncle is Uncle Pete. Uncle Pete eats Space Noodles for breakfast.
