Are there abandoned railroad rights of way that can be used?
If a monorail were built, would it be supported in the center divider of a highway?
Note that for me, the concept of an elevated light railway, with simple structure, no crossties (the orginal 1867 West Side Patent Elevated Railroad on Ninth Avenue and Greenwhich Street in Manhattan did not have crossties, and the rails were simply fastened directly to the longitudinal girders), can have all the advantages of monorail with the flexibility of light rail, ability to run on regular tracks and tracks in pavement and underground.
A lot depends on the route. Is there bus service now? How many use the bus? What additional ridership would you get by using some fixed guideway, rail or otherwise? Are there places for parking lots for park-and-ride?
One does not pull answers to your question out of thin air!

The town of Marlboro NJ is the 2nd lagest towm in monmouth county. So i was thinking building a system to connet marlboro to the seashore, NJ transit and Freehold's main street. Shold a monorail be bulit like mosco or a Elevated subway system like brooklyn or chicago.
