Thanks for posting this. Never miss a chance to see and hear steam, folks. Even if you've seen an engine before -- when the last one is silent none of us will be sitting around regretting that we spent so much time chasing steam locomotives

Bat 21, great pics of 844! This might be a little off the subject but, what kind of old freight cars does U.P. keep for their steam collection? From the pictures, it looks like there are a few old express boxcars (which I'm guessing must be used for storage for their tools) and the bay window caboose is ex-Rock Island.

That without a doubt, is my favorite steam loco. Hearing that whistle is hearing one of the greatest sounds. [8D]

UP #844 Test Run to Denver News story and Video
Posted by RMNRWY on Saturday, May 7, 2005 11:12 AM
I watched UP #844 leave Cheyenne and head south yesterday to Denver for her test run. It was an awesome sight to see her in action again. So nice looking with her new fresh black paint. Back during the winter, I watched #844 do some test runs in Cheyenne in primer paint. Well, here is the 9 KUSA news story and video link. (Click on video camera)
