Many years later I see this post as I was looking up BDLX. BDL, Inc stands for Big Dog Leasing situated in eastern PA.

I'm not making this up -- BDLX is the Association of America Railroads reporting marks for the BDL Co. I have no idea what "BDL" stands for. As far as I can tell, they're a small player in the locomotive rebuild/leasing business.

With reporting marks, anything ending with an "X" indicates ownership by a company/individual, other than a "railroad". Example: TTUX indicates ownership by "Trailer-Train" corp.
As far as the "BDL", I have no idea.
