Yet...some of these runs come up almost unexpectedly and very sudden. Remember that Super Bowl run in 2004, that came out less than a month before it left for left Cheyenne!

i am positive it will not be seen in ohio, so i will just enjoy whatever travels one or
more of ohio central steam locomotives makes. the ohcr is much more fan-friendly
anyway.

When I was at the steam shop i asked when one or both would be through Rock Springs (near Salt Lake) and they told me sometime in June. Hoping it will come thru this year. it hasnt been through in the past 2.

Well . . .
That's what they portray on the flyer.
There is ALWAYS a Caveat with any promotion: "Take whatever is represented with at least one grain of salt."
Yes, they illustrate a double-header, but the text just says a steam trip. It could be either the 3985, the 844, or MAYBE both.
The 844 has been in the Cheyenne backshop for five years and is just now getting its legs back (break-in movements).
The Terry Ranch trip is a way for the UP Steam Operation to make some money on the annual Denver Post-Cheyenne Frontier Days Special, signals the opening of the famous rodeo every year.
The steam engine(s) will make a ferry run to Denver on Thursday or Friday July 21/22. The DPS run will take place on Saturday (return trip may be after dark), and the UPHS trip to Cheyenne will act as the return ferry run on Sunday.

If you were a member of the UPHS you would know.
As for now it is scheduled to do a double header with 844
Denver to some ranch on the Wyoming Colorado border in July. Tickets are only being offered to UPHS members now
I think some time late in may they will sell off any remaining seats.

Does anyone know UP's schedule for the Challenger tour this year or where I can find it? Missed it the last 2 years and wondering if it will be passing thru Arkansas this year. Thanks
When someone realizes that people don't like waiting at 2 a.m. for a train that's 2 hours late...then Amtrak will be in trouble
