As I write this, there is a CN derailment and resulting forest fire on the south edge of Solon Springs. From scanner talk it sounds like there are several rail cars involved, one of lumber, and another tanker which they obtaining the contents on. DNR, Solon Springs, Gordon, Wascott, and Bennett fire personnel are on the scene, in addition to a bulldozer from Douglas County Hwys.

The train that derailed in Solon was a southbound UP train, I presume MITPR. There are currently 15 cars on the ground. The engines, UP2985 and NREX5060 were not damaged and are currently in the siding at Gordon. The rear part of the train also was pulled back to Sauntry. Local fire crews are gathering for a foam attack on the fire involving the cars. The only tank car concern was for an empty car that previously had petroleum based chemicals in it, but it is upright.
