Does anone know any information about Eagle tunnel other than its cave in?
"There is nothing in life that compares with running a locomotive at 80-plus mph with the windows open, the traction motors screaming, the air horns fighting the rush of incoming air to make any sound at all, automobiles on adjacent highways trying and failing to catch up with you, and the unmistakable presence of raw power. You ride with fear in the pit of your stomach knowing you do not really have control of this beast." - D.C. Battle [Trains 10/2002 issue, p74.]

You may try this link. It was just added with pictures the other day. It pretty much tells you whats going to happen. In March I was at a train show in Shelbyville KY and talked with a CSX police officer. He told me that the biggest drawback of daylighting the whole thing was the people at CSX that signs the checks. I took from him that if MOW had anything to do with it, it would be gone. Now it's a money deal.

When I was there couple months ago, the big rumor was that CSX would bid out to have it daylighted. Talking with the policeman, I can see that it's different now. I was going to go over this past Sunday but was to tired after flea marketing on Saturday. I need to get over there before they tear out the remnants of the north portal.

Hope this helps out some
