New Johnstown Pennsylvania Live Scanner Feed started.....

Those familiar with Railroadradio.net are aware of live scanner feeds that can be accessed from that site, including the Pittsburgh, Enola-Harrisburg areas of Pa where you can listen live on your computer. A new feed that has not been added to that site yet but anyone with a media player can listen to is a West Slope feed that covers between Cresson and New Florence, Pa..roughly 40 miles. A Johnstown area resident has just started it. To access it, you do not search under a regular websearch...You need to open your media player from your computer start page after getting on-line. Once you do this, click on files icon at top of media player page which should open up a add url window. Type in the following: 207.255.29.40:8000 and you will hear live talk from Conemaugh where helpers cut on and off, and other chatter from the area. I had to upload a new version of Realplayer to access it as my Windowsmediaplayer was having trouble with it. Dave Williams @ nsaltoonajohnstown@yahoogroups.com

It is.....Earlier today,I tracked an Eastbound 36A with a load of tractors in with general freight up from Conemaugh to MO in Cresson on the feed...I then clicked onto the Station Inn Webcam and saw it on screen. It was having trouble and had to add a total of 3 SD40-2 Helper sets on to it...Then it went into Emergency on the East Slope near MG and Horseshoe Curve....i caught most of the details on the Scanner Feed. Right now at 8PM EDT, a High and Wide is coming east into Conemaugh, Pa..heard on the feed. Dave Williams @ nsaltoonajohnstown@yahoogroups.com

Haven't tried the audio yet from the Johnstown area....I'll proibably get the word to update Realplayer too....Thanks for the word.

Station Inn Cam works on motion..as soon as a train gets into the camera's view, it snaps stills every few seconds....will also pick up movement of bigger trucks and busses on the street.., A Horseshoe Curve Webcam is also up as of a couple of weeks ago...go to www.railroadcity.com and you will see a webcam link on the mainpage of the Altoona Railroaders Museum...a brief upload of an Axis program and you're in business....It is live streaming, so a highspeed connection is better for that......Listening to Scanner feed right now...some eastbounds coming into Conemaugh right now....Dave Williams @ nsaltoonajohnstown@yahoogroups.com

At 11;26pm EDT, heard on the Scanner feed....Eastbound NS General Manifest 12G has just stopped East of CP C in Conemaugh to get a pair of SD40-2 pushers. Leader is NS Dash-9 9329. Train layout is 88 loads by 23 empties and 11,225 on the tons. The helper will get three step protection to tie on the rear, brake test will be performed, and the train should be shoving East up the West Slope shortly. The SD40-2's will stay on all the way to Altoona, as help for dynamic braking down the East Slope. Dave Williams @ nsaltoonajohnstown@yahoogroups.com

Monday morning, heard a 36A which usually has alot of Case or John Deere Tractors in the train, stop at Conemaugh to add helpers...They should be on the way up the West Slope by now...An 88K Coaldrag was coming in to town from the West....likely stopping for helpers too...Head ends can be heard giving train layouts, loads-empties and tonnage to helpers before they tie on, so the helper crews know the train handling characteristics that they'll be dealing with on each shove....Dave Williams http://groups.yahoo.com/group/nsaltoonajohnstown
