Wisconsin & Southern passenger train
Posted by eolafan on Saturday, April 9, 2005 8:52 AM
Yesterday, while leaving Hartford, WI I was stopped at a grade crossing near downtown by the crossing flashers and heard a diesel horn very near by. I stopped at the crossing and to my shock along came two E9's and five passenger cars of a business train. What a sight! The E units were spottlessly clean as were the cars, and it seemed like I had traveled through a time warp. Imagine my surprise and shock...too bad I did not have a camera (SORRY EVERYBODY).

I have had the same thing happen to me. It's strange, especialy on a freight only line. And of course one of those Murphys laws says you will not have the camera.

It's probably going to Green County Depot Days which is the last weekend of April. They generally have a static display at one of the towns. Google Depot Days and you'll see all the events. My club will be giving speeder rides at Brooklyn Wi all weekend. John[8D][:o)]

Actually the train was a Business trip for Mr Gardner(President and CEO of the WSOR) and a few of his buds. The train went from Milwaukee to Horicon on April 5th, and you must have caught the return trip. It was stored in Milwaukee all winter. I bet the train will be at Green County Depot Days, but this wasn't the run for that yet.

Must be nice to have such a train at ones disposal any time you want it. I am truly envious. Somebody caught the earlier westbound train at Slinger and photographed it. You can all see it on www.railpictures.net

They ran on the Superior Subdivision from Milwaukee north to Plymouth last night. Here's a shot of the train near Fredonia, Wisconsin:

Mike, those are awesome! I've yet to see the E-units in person, they were sold the first time before I learned of the WSOR. These photo make me want to see them even more! That is absolutely fabulous! Thanks alot for sharing.

I keep missing those E-units. Are they coming back down Milwaukee on 4-12 ? Maybe I can actually catch them on the return trip.
