A year ago or so the I&O had a hopper derail and csx had a hopper with a large crack.they both were put on the gound and sat for awhile.it just took the contractor awhile to scrap the cars(not to mention it was winter too)
stay safe

The derailment was very easy to get to! Right next to main 4 lane road1 The line is very busy and they tok dozers and push all cars aside and left them laying there1Cant believe they would do that1 Iwonder if they just don care or what.True to investigate yeah they may have waited for that! A week later they had some auto haulers derail they cleaned that up real fast. This is main line that goes by Nissan factory1 N ashville to Atlanta subdivion! Thanks Afvel

Could they have sold the wrecked cars for scrap where they lay and the buyer is slow about cutting them up and hauling them away? Or perhaps they had to get some car repair people out there to figure out which were worth repairing.

It may not be cost effective to clean up. As long as the track is passable, what it looks like is of little consequence.

Tennessee does not have very harsh winters, but that may be part of the reason why they have waited to clean up. Is this a remote location, hard to access? Perhaps the line is too busy to close for the amount of time needed to clean up.

There are a number of reasons why this isn't a high priority for the railroad to clean up. It is a business afterall.

Hello was wondering why CSX has not cleaned up a derailment that happened back in December of 2004! It happened in La Vergne tennessee on a friday 19 coal cars derailed.Does not CSX care about its image and what people think? Its on the main line to Nashville the local newspaper had to ask why befor Csx even got to doing anything about it 2 weeks ago some cars have been removed and others are still sitting there and when derailment happened it to train crew 30 mins to call 911! Is this how a railroad should be run? Thanks Afvel
