This will be easy - you don't even have to post a reply.

Saw CSX #8553 - SD50 and WC #6503 - SD45 on the head end of a freight going west from the south. WC was still in it's rather pretty colors.

ATSF bottom dump was leaking what looked like maybe dry cement. Doing a good job of it, too. Wonder if they will know what was in the empty car when they receive it.

AND - BNSF - 3 bay bottom dump, the 2nd door was also leaking something very fine and dusty. See comment above.

Brother Carl - saw old Northwestern #69324 2 door bottom dump covered hopper? And it wasn't leaking anything. (OK now you can correct me).

Perfect weather for train watching - 75-80 all weekend - and no rain, snow, sleet.

Hail no!

Mookie,

I realize everyone else knows this, but can you give the locations as to where you are seeing these trains? Given the power you described on the train you saw, I can narrow it down to about 31 states.

Mookie lives in the Land of Nod, just north of OZ and east of Mudchix! And in her own mind, too.

But, I do see a lot of interesting power go through here - all on freight. Most of it is either coming or going down the St Joe line (Mizzouri). We (him & her) don't see much CSX going thru here, since we are both hard working folk. But on the weekend, I catch a lost one or two every so often.

Guess I do have to correct you a little on the CNW car--that particular number (in the 69300s) doesn't work, but if it was anywhere in the 69000s it's an Airslide covered hopper, used for such things as sugar and starches. That particular design hasn't been built for a good ten years now, so enjoy them while they last!
