Reading in the TRAINS "news"...I see where the New York City PENNSYLVANIA STATION conversion is about to move forward. Will we see an edifice they can once again be proud to have people enter to the city...Hope so.

With all the turmoil with Amtrak funding, I have to ask the question, WHO is paying for this Penn Station thing? I am neither for, or against it, but I do know that projects like this run millions of dollars. Has Amtrak got a "Swiss bank account" that nobody knows about??

As I understand it...Amtrak has nothing to do with paying for this project. The article I mentioned in the opening of this thread speaks some of financing as well as does several others [articles], I have read. The money seems to be in place to do it. This is not an Amtrak project as I understand it. I do know the powers to be destroyed a beauiful structure to build Madison Square Garden and squeezed the transportation part of the location all down into the "basement". I've never heard a good word said about that situation.

NJT has just spent $$ to upgrade their facilities at NYP, will they stay there if/when amtrak moves to the farley building project. would that then make connections more difficult, and distant? cudjoebob
