That is not true. The BNSF crew had the signal, and when they arrived at the diamond the rail grinder was in the limits, and slowly moving towards the diamond. The BNSF crew witnessed the grinder come to a stop very close to the diamond and supposedly the person running the rail grinder released the brakes when the rear of the BNSF train was crossing and rolled back into the train. The extension "platform" at the top of the grinder is what tore into the containers and knocking them off the train. Of course I am purely "speculating" here, because there is no way I could know. Anyone like Nike shoes? Just asking for no reason[;)]

A rail grinder on the UP rolled into the diamond while the BNSF train was passing. No rail cars were derailed from what I heard but it shredded some containers and knocked some onto the ground. As I heard nobody was hurt.

Yep, a really great job by the MOW and clean up crews in getting things "back on track" as it were. Just checked the cam and you can easily see lots of little "stuff" on the ground that must have been from the wreck as this area is normally as clean as a whistle (trian whistle that is) and it looks now like the aftermath of a company picnic or something. Nothing remains but a cople of tractors, thats all.

Wow so many people are on you get knocked off the cam after a minute or to. Normally on the weekend this time of the day you can stay on for at least a hour at a time.

As of about 8:30 webcam time, there is no more wreckage, and just one truck sitting around. They really did work fast.

I work for the UP and as I understand the rail grinder hit the BNSF train caused a lot of delay for the crews trying to get home from IOWA I understand no one got hurt which is a blessing in it's self. Hopefully things will clear up and we'll be back to normal. ALL READERS CONCERNED THE RAILROAD WILL HANDLE THIS SITUATION IN A TIMELY MANNER THANKS FOR YOUR CONCERN. What a mess! I can not find any news articles about this wreck on any internet site. I was just at the diamonds for my first visit ever on Valentines Day Feb 14th. Don't get up there much from Ft Worth Texas.

I was watchin television, and I kept getting messages in my email box from some of the wisconsin railroad forums and they were all (9 to be exact) titled Rochelle Web Cam. I kept thinkin to myself its nighttime I never see anything at night unless its the headlight from a train. Then I go to the site and see whats happening and am just shocked. Im more interested in seeing what everything looks like in the morning, especially if there is any damage to the diamonds. Thats going to snarl alot of traiffic.

Hopefully no one was hurt.
