Not a bad name! At least they kept some of the original name instead of turning it into something unheard of and no one knowing what it is.

I was probably told this at one time and forgot, but since the locomotives are being produced in London, what exactly do they still do at LaGrange[?]

The engine plant is still in operation at La Grange (McCook).

I think I just read that design work is done in LaGrange, too.

When does the news wire get posted? I came in this morning and looked at it, and it was yesterday's.
I think that it's a bit surprising that they didn't go back to EMC. It seems like that would be a good choice, as it it doesn't have a bad rep, does it?

Having purchased an ongoing business, one of the major considerations is to avoid disrupting ongoing operations and customer relationships as much as possible. We worked hard in our purchase to retain the name of the business.

The EMD name is a significant, well known asset in today's market. EMC is unknown in the market today but may have been a good second choice - depending on who else has usurpted the name over the years.

As I wrote the previous post, I had the eerie feeling that I had written it before. I also seemed to recall that I had mentioned that "Electro Motive Diesel" would be a good choice for post-GM EMD. Sure enough, I found it:

On a related thought, now that EMD has been sold, will they keep the EMD name or come up with an entirely new corporate moniker and designation system for their product line?

Sincerely, Ross R. Moore, Jr.

Maybe EMD will once again become EMC (Electro-Motive Corporation).

Maybe, but EMD has been EMD longer than it was EMC. I'd look for either a new name, or maybe something like "Electro-Motive Diesel Corporation", or "EMD" for short. [;)]

So there ya have it, I said it first! [}:)] Quite proud of myself too. Ok, enough ego trip. Now go enjoy my website, which I am getting seriously behind on updates.
