Is it normal to see a conrail engine pulling an amtrack passenger train? Beacuse i was coming home and say it on a road crossin in minoa

Either the Amtrak engine broke down en route,or Amtrak is using it for a helper unit.

Here is an example on an Amtrak angine breaking down, leaving a Union Pacific SD70M to lead the train.
