Bombardier railcars in Tibet

Where railroad capital is invested is driven by who is buying more than who is selling. The trade imbalance means the China has a lot to invest and US/Canada have little.

Strange this Canadian company is supplying rail cars and complete train systems to Tibet and a bunch of other countries but doesn't seem to be able to convince people in Canada to revitalise a decent passenger train system, also light rail systems seem to be purchased in Europe.

A Financial Times article (28 Feb 2005) reported on an agreement between Bombardier and Chinese rail authorities to supplyr rail car specifically designed for use in Tibet.

"This project represents a very important technology challenge... The train will reach an alititude of 5,000m (16,000 feet) and will be exposed to ... low temperatures, low oxygen and sand storms."
