Which Locomotives are running on the C&TS in 2005?
Posted by CopCarSS on Saturday, February 26, 2005 1:47 PM
Hi everybody. Been trying to search the web to see what's running on the C&TS in 2005, but haven't found anything. Anybody know which locos are going to be running around CO & NM?

Thanks in advance!

Try Jay Wimer at "The Narrow Gauge Dead Goat Saloon." Jay lives in Chama and is a really good source of C&TS-related info. You can either Google the Goat or go to my website (listed below) - I have a link up to the Goat. Jay can probably give you a complete rundown on each locomotive on the property, and he knows most of the people in the Chama shops, so his info's generally pretty good.

Welcome to The Goat! Welcome to Chama, Chris!
For 2005, we expect to have 484, 487 and 488. If the money comes
through from
the Feds and the states, we'll have a season. If not, we won't have ANY
engines running.

An excellent source of what the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad will have running this year, plus a lot of other interesting information, is the Friends of the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad. If I remember correctly, a one-year membership in the Friends would cost you twenty bucks, maybe twenty-five at the most for a basic membership. The Friends publishes a quarterly newsletter, which is well worth the cost of membership. I recommend that you join and become part of the preservation efforts of the Friends of the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad.
