I was wondering that if a railroad could develop a all weather camera that they would stick above the couplers, could it possibly replace the brakeman? The camera would be on a stand next to the controls and could be controlled be a lever. The engineer would have a non-obstructed view of what he was coupling how close the couplers were. Of course the brakeman would still have to connect the air hoses, but if it was cold, the brakeman would would not have to be out as old. I realize there may be some problems with different cars being coupled but i want your suggestions.
