#3300

I am really getting sick of chasing this engine around. Yeaterday it came through, today it came through, I am getting so tired and worn out. Pleas help.[:(]

I know what you mean! CSX ran the heck out of this unit down here in GA a couple of months ago. I racked up 120+ miles on the car with the first chase.....the second chase yielded over 70 miles! (doesn't include the trip back to the house) Well worth it both times as you can see below. Hard to believe this paint job has survived 14 years of UP torture without getting repainted!

By the way,Didn't this Locomotive at one time wear Yellow Paint at one time?
Because I know that it did.

It was in Armour Yellow numbered UP 3300. It traveled when first painted like this with the UP 3301 also repainted but in yellow. I remember when reading TRAINS when this unit was painted, it said it will travel to different cities and be repainted shortly back to its UP colors again...ha! Guess again! Kinda like the UP 2001 and 2002. They were only supossed to be painted for a year or something like that!

I'm a little lost here, but could someone tell me which model UP #3300 is, and what is it's significance?

UP 3300 is a SD40-2 painted Red, White, & Blue stars and strips for United Way. A beautiful locomotive if u ask me. Seen it a couple of times.

Thanks for the info. I've seen pictures of the 3300, but never in real life. The SD70M's painted for the 2002 olympics tend to show up in northern Utah from time to time.

Only slightly off-thread, UP 2001 & 2002 have both turned up in the Chicago area within the last few weeks.

i rode this unit about 10 years ago from Ft worth Tx to St Louis Mo
the rr cop in Ft Worth thought i was a military cop and smiled and said
hey soldier you can ride on the rear loco they didnt tell me you were guarding this train (it had 20 ft containers with explosive placards on them)
he then told the crew via 2 way to pay no attention to me im guarding this train
it worked till St Louis when A tower man seen me & told the crew they told him what they had been told he decided to call uncle sam an verify this info when they said theres no one guarding the train they called the bull on me but i managed to avoid capture as usual then after learning that FTRA bums wear camoflauge i decided to just wear black so i wont be mistaken for FTRA or MP again now im mistaken for some demon possed teenager

also I have seen the 3300 when I was in Columbus,GA some people said that it sat there all day and when I saw it 2 UP's picked it up also the year was 2001.

I have to sya, for all the s*** we give the UP for repainted the SP and C&NW lco's, when they come up with a special paint scheme, it usually is very cool, i.e Desert Storm, United Way, Olympic Torch etc. (not that i like the UP very much, just my 0.02$
