for the moment, the cuts have been postponed... i believe next month the cuts would go into effect unless more funding is allotted

You certainly can get to the Wachovia by rail. Your tag indicates you are coming from New Jersey. All regional rail are still operating on normal schedules to Suburban station. From there, follow the signs in the concourse to the Broad STreet Subway (the orange line). You will have to pay the subway fare. Take it southbound to the last stop.
What's up at the Wachovia? Certainly not the Flyers.

Your options are:

NJT Atlantic City Line to Phila 30th St.. Exit station on SW side. Take Market St Subway or Subway Surface Trolley to City Hall. Free transfer to Broad St. Line. Take south to end of the line, then walk a block south and you are there.

Or:

Take PATCO high speed line to 12-13th and Locust. Walk thru concourse to Septa Broad St. Line. (be sure to buy a round trip transfer for SEPTA in NJ PATCO station).

You can take the NJT River Line diesel light rail line or one of many NJT bus routes to Camden and transfer to PATCO line there.

I wish it was the Flyers! Or the Devils, or Rangers, etc etc etc. One of my sons has a birthday in April, and he is a huge hockey fan. We always see a Devils game in April. Poor kid.

I was going to see what Arena football is like ..... the Philadephia Soul.

Either that, or its the Hershey Bears! I just can't bring myself to drive to the Bronx to Yankee Stadium anymore. I hate that place, and the people there, etc.

Thanks for the info. I'll be coming in to Philadelphia on the Northeast Corridor Line from northern New Jersey.

If you are coming in on NJ Transit/Septa, get off at Suburban Station, not 30th St., to catch the Broad STreet line. If you are on Amtrak, you'll get the Market-Frankford El (you still have to go outside the station and cross 30th street to do it) and change to the subway at City Hall.
And have a good time!

If you are coming in from NJ on Amtrak, get off at the only Phila stop, 30th Street, at the SW corner of the station, go down the marked stares for the SEPTA 32nd street underground Market Street line, board the next inbound train to City Hall-Broad Street, and transfer to the Broad Street line to the end of the line.

If you want to do some interesting railfanning and can leave an hour early, NJT's "River Line" is definitely worth the ride. By your ticket from NJ to Trenton. Go down stairs at Trenton, use the automatic ticket dispenser to buy tickets to Camden (last I heard there was one flat $1.10 fair for all stations) and ride to the Transportation Center in Camden, then PATCO across the Benn Franklin Bridge with the combination ticket referred to above, then to the SEPTA Broad Street line as described earlier.

The "River Line" uses the right of way (continuous rail use, still used for diesel freight) of the uSA's third oldest railroad, the Camden and Ambey. You can sit up front and look over the shoulders of the diesel light rail car operator. There is on-street trackage in both Trenton and Camden, but in between it is a railroad line.

Dave,
It's been a while I've been in 30th Street. Are you saying that the underground connection to the Market Frankford El is now open, after many, many years?

Oh, and this just in: SEPTA just today said the new date for its give-us-money-or-we'll-cut-back-to-one-train-a-day threat is now March 6.

No SEPTA cuts have happened. Ive taken the train to Phillies games near the Wachovia Center in south Philadelphia. The best way to go is take a train to suburban station and then take the orange subway to the center.
