Rochelle Web Cam Sightings
Posted by Anonymous on Friday, June 28, 2002 7:16 AM
Did anybody happen to be watching the Rochelle Web Cam this morning at around 6:50 to 7:00 AM as displayed on the Web Cam? I was watching at that particular time and just before 7AM, an individual walked across the tracks to the middle of the four tracks and placed some kind of red object on the post near the control box. Did anyone see that or does anyone know what it is. It can be seen in the recent images of the Rochelle Web Cam. It looks like some kind of suspicious activity to me.

I think it's ok - when they are going to do track work - he puts out a red warning sign so the train crews will know.

That is to tell the train crews that they need permission from the dispatcher to enter the section of track they are approaching due to the construction taking place on the new intermodal yard. You will also notice that quite frequently trains are going in both directions on only one track when the red alert is posted. It is usually removed about 3:30 to 4:00 in the afternoon.
