Our progress fixing the camera was slowed a bit once Trains.com discontinued their support. We are in the process of launching our new web site, LiveTrains.com later this month. This launch includes replacing the existing camera with newer technology and adding a couple of new web cam locations. Until then, we will keep the static image streaming at www.milepost235.com.

Could you give us a progress report on the M.P.235 web cam? I go to the TRAINS site an there is no linK(?) TO Ft. Madison cam, but I still have it in my bookmark. I click there and the site pops up, but with a "Cannot Display" at the bottom of the page. Yet, I see active railroading, but the added goodies(zoom, Pan etc.) do not work. I can enlarge the picture or decrease it. What gives?? You said on or about July 15. I am patient. Also why is the forground so dark no matter what time of day? I have compared with Rochelle an the sun has a varible with the light. It seems to me that the camera has its exposure settings for the river an sky. Not the foreground(raillines). It is always dark!! Thanks for your time. Tim Wisconsin.

I have watched the refresh rate of the Rochelle cam, an on average it refreshes 3 to 5 seconds. I feel this is outstanding! Other cams that I have come accross refresh at 15 to 60 sec.!!! There is one question that I have, can the image or picture size be increased at Rochelle like the mediun size one in Ft.Madison?? Thanks Tim

Speaking for myself while I'd like the Rochelle webcam to have a faster "refresh" speed, given all the problems they seem to have I'd rather not have a user controlled webcam at Rochelle thank you.
Wi***he UP/BNSF could be encouraged to remove some of the clutter between the park and the crossing

After operating for almost 2 years, we are replacing the existing Milepost 235 web cam with completely new camera, conrtrol and server technology on or about July 15. To view our existing static image camera, go to www.milepost235.com.
The biggest difference between MP235 and Rochelle is a pan/zoom/tilt camera and control software. This adds to the server complexity and bandwidth requirements at the camera location. This is especially important at MP 235, since it's Internet connection, at 512Kps, is only available via "wireless" access.

what happened to the webcam in Ft.Madison Iowa? Whats the difference between the one in Ft.Madison vs. the one in Rochelle il.? And now for the last question. Aside from money, what would it take to upgrade the cam in Rochelle to the standards of Ft. Madison? thanks Tim
