The Super Wife of a Railroader

I came to know the super wife of a Santa Fe Railway railroader in the early seventies, and as time progressed, it was discovered she was a librarian at a school of higher learning here in Southern California.  It was she that was responsible for the many decades of TRAINS Magazines on the shelves, and many popular railroad book titles as well!

Then her railroad husband retired and she did too, and they moved to Arizona.  No longer did I see his presence as conductor on the Redlands Loop or the San Jac local, or even Cajon Pass!  I checked recently the Internet and discovered he had passed away in 2007 at age 77 but she was still alive, now at age 86!

A few years ago, I revisited her college employ, but sadly, all the TRAINS Magazines and railroad titles were gone, likely sold off to the highest bidder for cents on the dollar, or even possibly thrown away!  Thankfully, we can now buy the old TRAINS Magazines in electric forum.

Old age and passing are sad indeed!

Old age beats the alternative.

Never too old to have a happy childhood!
