Here in the east and south it is not the known crossings but the unknown ones that will bite you. One of my workers found a valve that near a RR and parallel auto road that appeared to not have any use. My mistaske was not operating it to determine if anyone lost water since it was some distasnce from our Jack & Bore. Not only was the foreman of the J&B company required to observe I had to remain at the site whenever our 18 inch casing was being operated.
Well you guessed it. We hit the valves cast iron pipe that was diagonal to the tracks not perpendicular. We nearly broke our arms closing that valve. Then had to locate the pipe on both sides and J&B that line as well. Cast iron pipe around here almost is never round but has varying diameters. So, we have to use a speciality company that has on hand couplings already fabricated that try to meet varying diameters.
I did a quick look through the video and it seemed hat the construction crew was taking proper precautions. I would be very interested in MC's opinions and commentary as well.

The major aspect of the Class 1's Real Estate Departments is keeping track of ALL the 'Line Wire' Crossing and Easements that are in place along every mile of the carriers property. Line Wire Crossing apply to both crossings above and below the tracks. When a line segment is sold off to a short line, the data of these crossings and easements are supposed to be transferred in total to the new owner.
I am certain mudchicken can comment with real authority as all this is within his wheelhouse.
Never too old to have a happy childhood!
