   Locomotive stood its ground.  31 cars derailed.

I would have to say that being in the cab of that locomotive would be a little interesting.

I would also have to say, being in the cab of the locomotive at that particular point and instant in time was the safest possible place for a human to be as compared to being at that same point and time without the locomotive.
