We started what will be an extended heat wave on Sunday, high's in the upper 90's and lows in the upper 70's. It's expected to continue until Saturday.
BaltACDWeatherman has been calling for triple digits this coming weekend.
We're forecast for up to triple digits, and maybe higher, for the next four days.
Thunderbumpers, too.

My A/C (heat pump) started blowing hot air Friday with the outdoor temperatures going from the low 80's to the high 80's during the weekend. Finally able to get a technician on it today. 3.5 pounds of refrigerant and replaced a blown electrical capacitor. Now I am getting 62 degree air coming out of the distribution ducts.

BaltACDLocal 'running events' aren't all about the 'Winners' it is about the participation.
I get that.
I suppose the auto racing comparison would be someone who's five laps down, but, by gosh, he's gonna finish!
I helped cover EMS at a local dirt track some years ago. One older fellow in "late model" always ran dead last, but he ran!
tree68... Provided radio communications for an 18.12 mile foot race yesterday (the town was the site of a War of 1812 battle). There was also a concurrent half marathon. Hate to diss on anyone's effort, but some folks simply shouldn't be trying to run such a course. Ninety percent of the runners do just fine, but the last runner came in an hour behind the bulk of the participants. ...

Local 'running events' aren't all about the 'Winners' it is about the participation. It is about the people that take the event as a personal challenge, no matter their real state of perparation or ability. For those people the aim is to finish, no matter the time - to have accepted the challenge of the event and persevered to the end.
I participated in a 10K about 35 years ago - followed a young lady for most of the K's - something about the rear view of her kept me going. Then she found her 'finishing kick' and was long gone by the finish line. For me, just to have made it to the finish line was the accomplishment I was participating for.
Hoping for clear skies and a gentle wind by this afternoon so I can mow my hayfield - er, yard. Between having pressing matters to deal with and rain, haven't gotten to it lately.
Saturday the railroad tried a "tea party" theme train. Well filled, and everyone seemed to enjoy it, even taking a stop while we cleared a fallen tree from the ROW in stride.
Got some printing to finish and deliver, and another job to run, so I'd better get busy!
Ns was crowded yesterday.Grain operator waiting for cars to load.Nice to see the high hoods working in the yard.College boy has birthday coming up on Friday. Time to get stuff for work.
mudchickenHope Balt's filled the moat, agitated the starving alligators and fled to Florida. Headed east in less than a week.
Been facing life as it comes for over 77 years, this too will pass!

Sounds as if the Memorial Day 'shut down' will be utilized to replace the diamonds. CSX normally schedules major projects for Holidays when traffic is reduced.

Apparently not....
Wonder if someone in the IT department realized that today is the 155th anniversary of driving the golden spike. Can't have the forum down on such an important date in railroad history.
I thought it was down for the count.
evening

diningcar We had two tornados in NE Kansas Tuesday evening; one about five miles from my home with little damage. The other about sixty-five miles away killed one person. Looks like more warnings tonight.

I've been seeing the probability maps - your area is quite the hotspot of late.
Took the spring Skywarn class a couple of nights ago. We're lucky we don't normally get that kind of weather, although we did get an EF3 last year. Mostly tore up some wooded areas, but did raise Cain with a ski area, ruining most of their lifts.
adkrr64It was the Park Street bridge that was struck twice in the span of 30 minutes. That bridge caries the CSX main (Water Level Route).
Thanks for the correction. I saw "bridge" and it clicked into the Parkway, but I do remember that now. Nonetheless...

Ironically, a DOT representative that was interviewed on local TV suggested that some of the actions taken by the DOT to prevent bridge strikes on the Onondaga Parkway bridge has resulted in some trucks diverting to Park Street.
JoeKohAlso the can opener got another hash mark yesterday as well.
