I saw a set in north toronto stopped on the tracks. Just wonder where they are built ?
At Siemens Mobility plant in Florin, California.
Thankyou Ulrich
I just saw one yesterday on the Lakeshore just west of Toronto-it's pretty spiffy!
They do look spiffy, but what VIA really needs is its own dedicated right of way or at least priorty over freight as enshrined in law with Amtrak in the US. Also, more emphasis needs to be placed on stations and other supporting infrastructure. Our station in Guelph (for example) is crumbling and is often locked up tighter than a drum for no apparent reason..they will actually lock the station prior to train arrival so that no one has the opportunity to use the facilities if needed. The station also only has parking for six cars.. completely inadaquate. I'm not knocking VIA because they can only work with what they've got...But if we're serious about public transportation and promoting environmently friendly transportation we need to do much better.
In parts of the United States, the local stations are often owned by the municipality they serve. This often helps in keeping them in good shape.

Never too old to have a happy childhood!
Ulrich, you know as well as I do that what they need is a study of HS rail between Toronto and Montreal! I don't thnk that's ever been done.
