The huge prairie fire in the Canadian, Texas vicinity would appear to affect the Southern Transcon operation. Do any of you have current information?

The Southern Transcon runs through Canadian, TX - which has already suffered lost homes, etc.

The Smokehouse Creek Fire is currently at almost 470 square miles.  There are a number of fires burning in the area.

So much has changed on my computer in the last few days, and I now consider it unreliable.  And McAfee protects it!  I re-tract my previous post on the fire and have deleted it.

Thanks, tree68, for the info!

DC: Your old backyard between Hilton and Las Animas Jcn. is getting scorched right now. [1000 acres in 3 hours] Prairie fires are wicked and the high desert plains really need some moisture or its going to get way worse.

Mudchicken Nothing is worth taking the risk of losing a life over. Come home tonight in the same condition that you left home this morning in. Safety begins with ME.... cinscocom-west

Prairie fires are wicked

This is true and this happens all the time up there on a smaller scale and has been happening since the prairie was first settled.    DFW has issues with them at times as well.    Everyone is getting overly excited at the size and scale.    Which I believe also has historical precedent but not in recorded times.    I thought the U.S. Army torched most of Western Nebraska in the mid to late 1800's sometime.
