WSOR Prairie Subdivision
Posted by CMStPnP on Thursday, January 25, 2024 12:49 PM

This is from 2022, good to see the WSOR line between Madison and Prairie Du Chen, WI (Mississippi River) being modernized.   The line has seen a significant increase in traffic and some decent line upgrades since Milwaukee Road ownership days.

Prairie Subdivision bridge replacement. WSOR has been awarded a grant of up to $2,995,404 and a FRIIP loan of $374,426 to replace four timber bridges on the Prairie Subdivision in Crawford, Grant, Iowa and Sauk counties. The project bridges will be replaced with new steel trestles at a total cost of $3,744,255.

Just an FYI--WSOR was bought by WATCO several years ago.  Yet another interesting independent shortline/regional biting the dust.

So far WATCO is still repainting Wisconsin & Southern locomotives in the red and gray flying goose motif.

So far.
