Deshler Ohio-crossroads of the B&O Matt eats your fries.YUM! Clinton st viaduct undefeated against too tall trucks!!!(voted to be called the "Clinton St. can opener").
One of our local TV weather people posted a picture/map of this area that was all in green, except a patch of red in the middle.
The legend labelled the green area as "no snow for Christmas." The red area was labelled "also no snow for Christmas, but in red..."
Meteorological winter starts December 1st, but yes, the winter solstice is December 21, more or less.
What snow we got is mostly gone, but oh, the rain. Creeks and rivers are running banks-full, with some flooding occurring around the area. A couple of counties on the east side of the Adirondacks declared emergencies.

Winter has returned to northern NY - just measure 4" so far. This is part of the nor'easter that's coming up the coast, but there is some discussion of some lake effect, too. The snowblower will definitely be pressed into service.
Motorists on a state highway I traverse on a regular basis travelling to and from the railroad in Utica were surprised Friday evening by finding large pieces of a building blocking the road. An inactive diner (possibly being renovated) blew up, then what was still on the site burned. Never ate there when it was open, and it's been closed for a couple of years - permanently now, apparently.
Shipwatching is mostly drawing to a close. All of the locks between Lake Erie and the Atlantic will be closed by the end of today, with the Soo Locks closing next weekend. There will still be some traffic as long as the ships can get through the ice, though.
An inch or two of snow here just now. No big deal. The bigger deal is the wind that will arrive this evening.
Reports from western NY indicate power outages and damage to structures. Gusts are forecast at upwards of 70 MPH - near hurricane levels.
At least the wetness of the snow means it won't get blown around much. That would be an issue that would just complicate things.
We have one road that seems to be particularly vulnerable to trees coming down. I expect we'll pay it a visit tonight.
A Severe T'storm squall line is passing through NE Florida at present. Tornado Watch is in effect. 70's and supposed to drop overnight.
28 degrees with four inches of snow is current situation in Lawrence, KS
Well the guessers are saying most of the snow will be across the border for tomorrow and Saturday. Then it's going to get cold.College boy is getting his stuff to go back to school.Chores to do here.
Many power outages after the wind event Tuesday night - some still out of power. Mother nature did some pruning, including a lot of big, mostly dead trees. Some big pines revealed their minimal root structure as well.
Lake effect snows expected in the next day or so, and another storm this coming weekend. Hopefully without as much wind.
eleven degrees in Lawrence, KS with no snow falling at 11:00 AM
morning
Checked on brother. They have more snow over there.Mother nature busy blowing it around. Here at home the crews pushed the slush and slop out of the way.Yesterday a truck jack knifed while trying to stop from going under the perry st.viaduct.Boss is making chicken sandwhiches for lunch.Matt is getting stuff ready to go.
Got some (1-3 inches) heavy wet snow yesterday. Bitter cold is expected to run for Sunday through Tuesday with extreme wind chills.
Didn't make it home this weekend, we had 13.5 inches of snow in Green Bay since Friday morning. Doing my reset in a local hotel where it's warm and I have a full bathroom to use. Doordash suspended operations due to the weather, so had to walk to find food yesterday. Roads have gotten much better this morning, hoping they restart later, but I have options within walking distance. Back out to the semi tomorrow morning to clean it off and get it out of the drift it is likely in now, then it's regular route next week, and hopefully home next weekend.........

Light snow, 25 degrees with a 24 mph wind = 1 more miserable day on the lands of the Western Reserve (Ohio).
Compounding our misery: A money fight between my cable carrier and NBC means that thousands of us won't be watching TV from our houses this afternoon as our Browns take on Houston in the playoffs. I'll be listening to my radio instead, as I shove another cord into the fireplace.
Still trying to get rid of that pesky (-) sign in front of the weather readout at 1 pm.
Cowabunga!
Currently +34°F, down from +40°F this morning, and the wind is picking up. Looking at upwards of a foot of lake effect snow over the weekend. Sounds like the snowblower will be getting a workout.
At least we've got plenty of utility workers in the area - left over from this past week's wind event. Some people still don't have power back.
Lake Erie is currently seeing westerly winds over 40 knots, which will cause heavy waves and a very probable seiche, which will bring flooding to the lakeshore.
The Bills game scheduled for Sunday has been postponed to Monday. They are advertising for people to shovel snow off the field at $20 per hour...
Temp is -8 and wind chill makes it -28 in Lawrence, KS this AM
