Australian Freight on the Standard Gauge Network in New South Wales
Posted by JayBee on Thursday, July 6, 2023 1:00 PM

I stumbled across a YouTube channel showing primarily freight trains on the New South Wales network. The channel shows lineside views at various stations and some shot from parallel roads or overbridges. Away from the Iron Ore lines in the Pilbara the tracks are owned by the various States, which also provide all the passenger services, except for Tourist trains like, The Indian Pacific, The Ghan, and The Great Southern, and The Overland, which are operated by a company called Journey Beyond Rail with their trains hauled by a freight company.

Outside of the coastal commuter belt the tracks arre managed and maintained by Australian Rail Track Corporation owned by the Federal Government. The major freight companies operating on the interstate network are

Pacific National

Aurizon

Qube

Specialized Container Transport

Southern Shorthaul Railroad

In addition you will see leased locomotives from the Australian equivilant of CEFX RailFirst Asset Management.

His channel is called South Coast Freight Australia
