A Winter Day on the Adirondack: Climbing Remsen Hill
Posted by Harrison on Friday, March 24, 2023 7:29 PM

My first time volunteering on the Adirondack Railroad was relaxed enough that I was able to make some video along the way. It was a great experience and I can't wait to continue this summer.

Remsen hill (MPU16 to MPU19-ish) is a real challenge in the fall, when leaves coat the rail.

The large fill just north of Barneveld (MPU16) is on top of the trestle that was built so the U&BR could reach a source for fill on the north side.  The trestle is probably still there, under the dirt of the fill.

The view out the right/east side of the train from the fill is spectacular.

Nice job.  See you on the railroad!
