If such an animal still exists, a considerable amount of time and money would be spent to recover such an engineering document. Possibilities would include:

(1) GLO (General Land Office, today's BLM) filing maps filed by Moffat's road before it was assumed by D&RG-W. These maps are at a scale of 1"=2000' and may be filed under a subsidiary company's name. These articles are now stored in the National Archives in Rockville, MD.

(2)ICC files dealing with the bankruptcy of D&SL and merger into the D&RG-W in 1947 (4/11/47)...also found in the National Archives

(3) DRGW/D&SL collection at Colorado Railroad Museum
(4) Union Pacific Collection - Omaha

After D&SL got to Craig in 1913, David Moffat was out of the picture, the railroad had severe cash flow problems, and any mapping/preliminary engineering had been set aside (Except for the Dotsero/Osterod bypass). Finding this "needle in a haystack" would be tough.

Can anyone tell me where I can get a detailed survey map for the Denver & Salt Lake RR from Craig CO to Salt Lake City UT?. I'm planning a model railroad as if it was actually built but the maps I have got are not detailed enough to provide me with a good idea of where the line would have gone.
