So sorry for your family loss. Your comments were very thoughtful. We have a similar situation in our NRHS chapter and his knowledge is amazing.
Though not a TRAINS Forum member, Craig was an avid TRAINS reader and railfan in the Oshkosh area. So I felt posting his obituary here was appropriate. His favorite railroad was the C&NW and many afternoons we spent in discussion of railroad facts and history of operations of the C&NW. Some people would shun him because of his autism and forward outgoing personality. To me as a kid it was excellent to have someone else interested in trains that also read TRAINS Magazine in which I could have robust discussions with. His memory of facts and history of the C&NW was so detailed and unprecedented he was practically a walking historical archive of the C&NW in Oshkosh, WI.
It was both sad and disappointing to watch the toll that medications took on him but when they first started treatment not a lot was known about Autism and a lot of Autistic kids were seperated from the general school population. Sometimes Austic kids were treated like crap by the general population due to ignorance. This is where growing up in Oshkosh helped, Oshkosh was small enough where a lot of that ignorance was mitigated. Craig would treat anyone with respect that treated him the same way and would also take the time to write and exchange letters in the mail at times when distance seperated us and I was unable to attend the family reunion. He was one of my favorite cousins. RIP Craig Sitter and may we meet again in the after life.
