Thankyou for the information I looked it up on google to now i understand more
It was a brand name for a pressed steel end for boxcars and other cars as well. Clearly meant to evoke the thought of the "dreadnaught" battleships (the first of which was called Dreadnaught).
I did a quick search on Google and got a number of images.
