Hello again ctownsend...I failed to give you one more small but important bit of info--and that is that the regular crew that runs the Dinner-Train from Renton to Woodinville and return are regular B.N.S.F. employees who are G.C.O.R., but don't come on duty until around 5p.m. or so. The incident in question occurred in the early afternoon...Hommie

Hello ctownsend...I know about the Dinner-Train mishap in Renton Washington. The employees on the B.N.S.F. are all good friends of mine, but I assure you that what I tell you are just a few basic--true facts. It's 'dark-territory' in front of the Renton Depot, but this had no real impact on the said incedent. If you have seen a photo on the incident, you would have seen that the Dinner-Train shoved out foul of the main line. The Dinner Train did'nt run through the switch, but where is stopped, the switch was lined against it's movement. The switcher (Maltby-Turn), was shoving a few cars up the main, and came in contact with Loco's on the Dinner-Train that were foul. At the time this happened, there were no passengers aboard. The people who were moving the Dinner-Train around were not even licensed to be anywhere near a main trk. They were not GCOR (passed a R.R. qualifying rules exam) and inexperienced at train movement. One of the guys was the owner of the Dinner-Train! I will concede that the caboose and 3 cars that derailed could have had some-one on the 'point', but the end was visible from where they were standing, and the Dinner-Train just shoved out blind as with impunity. No disipline was assessed...Take Care...Hommie

I heard the Dinner Train was parked and BNSF hit it. From my take I guess there's an implication that past encounters (how many I don't know) are usually the fault of the Dinner Train. It was just the engine that was hit and supposedly the dinner train will be running this evening.
On a side note, even though it is a dinner train, did they have to revamp the dome car with dinning tables, man I hate it when people fool with stock.

I heard on the evening news (5/28) a BNSF train hit the Washington State Dinner Train in Reton Washington. Does anyone else now anything about the crash?
