Deshler Ohio-crossroads of the B&O Matt eats your fries.YUM! Clinton st viaduct undefeated against too tall trucks!!!(voted to be called the "Clinton St. can opener").
mudchicken We get to celebrate the Day after St Paddy's with free beer! Grossly and improperly loaded semi trailer collapsed on I-76 just northeast of Denver (BNSF Irondale) with a broken frame. The sag in the middle of the trailer should have been a warning.(all those Kentucky, Iowa and Indiana basketball fans can drown their sorrows - maybe those teams will learn to play defense, quit reading their press clippings and quit playing jungleball now. Come to think of it, Naw - that would require them using their brains)

Hey now, the only reason Iowa lost was because someone put a lid on the basket.

Can't complain about St Paddy's Day weather here - sunny, mild breeze with temp's in the 70's.
mudchicken Our St. Pat's party was 8" of blue snow (glop) .... the stuff is playing havoc with the rail transit side of Denver railroading

And the forcasters are saying we will get that #@!&# this weekend. After a BEAUTIFUL 72 degree full bright sunny day. But it is Spring which is known for its swings in weather. Enjoy the good ones while you've got them.
evening
Ns still has a manifest in the siding and cars uptown after work.Ate lunch outside today and they had a westbound Ge toaster from BNSF catch fire.Csx had fire problems as well yesterday sparking brush fires in spots. We heard a couple csx trains while on our walk today. Also saw the ND&W dump more ballast on the tracks as well.Tomorrow mother nature is going to send us back to normal.
Ns had an eastbound manifest in the siding after work. They also had some cars uptown.Went with mamma for a walk around the resivouir.Csx had a ethanol train with Cp up front and KCS on the rear at Fc.The started to move east after our walk.Tomorrow need to find some green.Going to watch the othe pre-dance party tonight.
Forgot about the upcoming demolition. I guess we'll know when It;s going to happen when the equipment shows up.
Finally recovering from the weekend - a lot of driving and disruption of routine. Wouldn't mind so much if the show had gone on as planned.
Working on a narration app for the railroad. Good thing I've done the narration a bunch of times... I'm not assembling the app - just providing the input.
Larry Resident Microferroequinologist (at least at my house) Everyone goes home; Safety begins with you My Opinion. Standard Disclaimers Apply. No Expiration Date Come ride the rails with me! There's one thing about humility - the moment you think you've got it, you've lost it...
Ns sent a westbound intermodal after work. They also have cars uptown as well.Brought home a cabinet from work for the trainroom.Works quite nicely.Guess the reports of the depot demolition won't be happening today. It's csx they do what they want.Chores to do as we enjoy this pre spring day.
Ns had some cars uptown after work.Ran errands here at home and didn't see any trains on CSX.Nice today.Opened the shed up and did a couple things here and there.Need to get supplies to prep the mower.Swamp is still way to swampy to work on it.Time to get cleaned up.
Nice, bright sun here in northern Vermont this morning - good for the trip home. Report from the home front is for the same thing there, so hopefully the roads are in good shape.
It'll be a much better ride than the trip over - which was over some very winding roads, not to mention rough.
The weather here wasn't as bad as forecast, but it was still pretty nasty. They probably could have held the train show, but...
blue streak 1Winter's last gasp here in ATL. Coldest night of year with temps going below 20F. All my fruit trees bloming right now. Oh well not any this year.
Good thing I decided not to race at Road Atlanta this weekend.
Never too old to have a happy childhood!

Haven't been watching the temperatures, but it was pretty obvious when I cleaned off the truck to go after some supper that it started off with ice last night. Probably 3" to 4" of snow, and still snowing as I headed into town from the hotel.
Hopefully it'll all be done snowing and I'll have decent roads for the drive home tomorrow.
At 8 AM it was 34 and snowing - at 4 PM it is 24 and wind is blowing the snow, that has stopped, all over the place.
Had some serious snow squalls going to see my brother today.I replaced one of his pictures.Did see the Wabash unit lead an eb stack train on Ns.It had the Nkp unit for a dpu.Saw a Up unit take NS 181 across the diamond with csx at St.Joe.Saw a few trains on csx before coming home. The depot in Deshler is being reported to come down on Tuesday.Have not seen any big equipment arrive yet.Dont forget to spring ahead tonight. Also change your smpke detector batteries.
BaltACDNice being retired - I don't have any place I am required to be.
Unless you want to, of course. That's my problem...
Snowplow is doing the lot outside my hotel window right now. Still snowing, but I don't know as they will get the forecast amount.
60's and sunny yesterday
Started to rain overnight and began to snow about 8 AM
Snow plow just made a pass on my street.
Nice being retired - I don't have any place I am required to be.
Drove six hours today (seven actually...) - two to pick up the show materials and four to get to the site of the show in Vermont.
Except they postponed it a week because of the storm.
My FD is doing a chicken BBQ next weekend, so I can't come back over.
My room is non-refundable, so I'm "enjoying" a mini-vacation, except with the forecast storm, I can't even go out sightseeing.
Oh, well. I was looking forward to meeting Harrison, too.
The extra hour was the wild goose chase my GPS sent me on. The poor darling wanted me to take a ferry that's not running right now, and after I did a quick check of a paper map and figured out where I actually wanted to go, "she" spent the next 20 minutes trying to get me to turn around and go back to the ferry slip.
Ironically, the trip planner I accessed before I left had me going over the bridge I needed to actually go over, although the route (all surface roads) was a bit convoluted. "Turn onto the Old Corderoy Road..." It's just hard to read instructions going down a winding country road. And pretty much my entire trip was on such roads...
Ns had an eastbound stack train after work. The boxcar is gone. They still have cars uptown as well.Matt went to go see some GP 30's that are still being used.Chores to do here.
OOOooooo, too many images that I can't unsee.
JoeKohDid have a waterbed with foam backing too.
Mine have all been full motion - no baffles. It doesnt take long for them to settle down.
When I was living in California, there was an outfit that was selling waterbeds with both a heater (I have a heater) and a vibrator (I don't have that). Somehow they apparently aroused the wrath of some folks who thought that was obscene. Somewhere I have a pin from that kerfluffle (a radio station got involved) that say's "I'm for Sensuality..."
Ns still had a boxcar on our dock after work. They have more cars uptown and sent a westbound stack train.Got a tip that the former power station for and interurban line was taken out.We went to Stryker to check it out.Even with the spike in gas prices curiosity got the best of us.We went through Bryan and saw a big hook and some track panels for a crossover. We got to county road 6 and the other building(whats left of the walls) was still there.Matt and I also saw an eastbound Loram railgrinder.Did have a waterbed with foam backing too.Back did not like it after awhile.Fun draining that and setting it out for the garbage man.Time to get cleaned up.Tomorrow is Friday.
Enjoying some relatively mild weather - just about perfect for syruping (maple) - below freezing overnight and above during the day.
Piles notwithstanding, most of our snow here is gone. There's still plenty at higher elevations.
Thursday is packing day, and Friday travel to Vermont for a train show. When I signed up to do the show, gas was a lot cheaper, but we'll tough it out.
My trusty waterbed decided to spring a leak, and in an impossible to patch spot (corner seam). The new mattress is on it's way. Last night I was about to climb into the bed when I noticed more water than I should have, so the thing got drained in the middle of the night. As I was trying to get comfortable in the recliner, it occurred to me that right over my head there was a perfectly good king sized regular bed in my "guest room." I'll be sleeping there tonight...
Ns still had a boxcar on our dock after work.It has more cars uptown as well. They sent a westbound stack train after work.Matt reports areas of the new track for the ND&W are starting to sink in the mud.Matt and I cleaned up in the swamp after work.Guessers say snow Friday into Saturday.Time for supper.
Ns delivered a boxcar overnight. It was unloaded and contents were delivered uptown. They have a few more cars to move around as well uptown.Had to contact local trustees about a property. The person is deceased. However his animals are wandering over here.Hope it gets resolved soon.Chores to do.
Ns was quite busy after work today.Sent an eastbound tanker train and a coal train behind it.They also sent a grain train west.Looks like the boxcar our friends uptown need is in with other cars.Ns just has to spot it on our dock.Matt went back up to campus to get a couple things. He said the cafeteria is closed for spring break. Most likely be hungry when he gets home.
Did chores this morning and Matts laundry.Went to Deshler. We did some work around the trainpark.Front end of one of the mowers will need new tires. The banners are still in good shape.Csx ran some trains as well.Q 353 had a NS/cp combo.Going to check on my brother tomorrow.Time for supper.
