These forever agreements are everywhere and were popular in the late 1800's apparently. Union Pacific via Texas & Pacific had an agreement to always have shops open and staffed to a specific number of employees in Palestine, TX to infinity. I think UP finally and just recently got that fixed via the court system. I know again locally where I live they made an agreement with former Southwestern Bell around 1930-1940, that if they took over our local telephone exchange our city would be forever bound as a Southwestern Bell monopolistic Franchise.....this transferred to AT&T, and only now is it breaking up due to the cut the cable - streaming TV movement.
