4014 Hitting The Road Again (AUG 5,2021 (?)
Posted by samfp1943 on Monday, July 12, 2021 6:35 PM

I received an article 'cut' from S.E. Kansas paper of Thursday, July 8th;  The Parsons Sun.   re:  "The Story of the 4014, and its Impending Tour of Ten States  to start in Cheyenne on August 5th, 2021"

The part that I was realkly interested in, was the departure from Union Station in KCMo. on Tues Aug 11th @ 0800 after an 'overnight' stay. {to travel down essentially,  the old 'Katy' to stop @ PARSONS[arr.1600 08/12 and deprt08/13 @0800]

4014 will be on display Sat. 08/14 @Ft.Worth: Tue.08/17 in Houston : Sat. 08/21 at NOLA: Sun. 08/29 StLMo:Mon. 09/06 in Denver.

The article stated that accompanying the train will be UPRR's "The Experience" [A multi-media, walk thru exhibit car.]  Apparently, it will only be opened at the stops listed above(?)

Tried to find a story in the TRAINS Magazine; but was unable to locate anything on this 'Tour'?  Current issue is still somewhere in 'the mail'?Bang Head

samfp1943, you gotta go see The Biggest That Ever Was! It is just so much more impressive in real life than any picture or even video can do justice. Just get there somehow! Drive, bike, hitchhike, take a plane and parachute in! You won't regret it!

There was a thread on this, with a detailed tour map, several weeks ago.

I concur!  While I've never seen a Big Boy live, only "stuffed and mounted," the sheer size of the thing will truly take your breath away.   "kgb's" right, no photo or video does it justice, a Big Boy has to be seen to be believed.
