Hello All I am new here.
I live in Appleton, WI my back yard butt's up to CN (or now ex CN) Shawano sub. I managed to be home when the local returned to Appleton today. Because they start to whistle for Wisconsin Ave a few 100 ft before my yard I don't get much advanced notice they are approaching.
However I noticed today a Watco unit was in charge. I didn't catch the engine number or unit type (looked like a standard GP38-2 or GP40-2). Just wondering if anyone else can verify Watco did start up service today?
With the three lines Watco acquired in the Appleton area I am guessing one crew will work the Kimberly spur 5 days a week either during the day or night. And another crew would work the Shawano spur 3 days a week and the New London spur 2 days a week opposite of the job to Kimberly.
One side note I last worked for CN 10 years ago. And the Shawano turn was only averaging 3 or 4 cars a trip (unless there was a set of grain from Center Valley) but in recent times I have noticed a average of 8 to 12 cars a train. Lets hope Watco will continue to build on that.
