Here's link to old thread from 2011 regarding CN line north from Northgate CN had. (Haven't been able to get link to work). Brought old thread forward on its own.
kgbw49 SD60MAC9500, didn't the BNSF branch used to extend farther north in to Saskatchewan? It dead ends in Northgate SK from what I can tell but it looks like a former roadbed is intact north of there.

At one time CN had a line from Regina to Northgate where it connected with the BNSF. IIRC it use to be known as the Regina Boundary Branch. The line was of Grand Trunk Pacific heritage. I don't know the details on this line, or when CN abandoned it. Hopefully VerMontanan and SD70Dude, or anybody else knowledgable will see this and comment on the details of the area.
Ceres Global Ag has announced a new canola crushing and processing facility to go into operation in 2024 at Northgate, SK. One of the byproducts out of the facility will be canola oil feedstock for biodiesel. More here.
Side note.. CP should feel lucky that BNSF doesn't have even greater penetration into the Canadian Prairie.
