The Gibson Energy project together with with USD Group and CP/KCS have a contract to move up to two 120-car per day trains to Port Arthur, TX. The contract goes into effect July 1st, 2021. I expect 1 smaller train at first while the kinks are worked out. Keith Creel mentioned this contract at an Investor Conference back in early December 2020. This will used coiled and insulated cars.

Interesting to hear that Imperial is moving toward rail again, over the past few years they have been rather vocal about their dislike of that method of shipping crude.

They had previously considered building a diluent separator at the Edmonton refinery, but the plans did not come to fruition.

A shame, that refinery is literally across the street from the former Kinder Morgan unit train terminal, now owned by Pembina Pipelines.

Feel that the word "rush " is a little overstating the increase in petroleum trains ?
