So I am reading via various articles via Google and Internet what a mess this empire has turned out to be. Apparently some railroads were bought then applied for Federal grants to upgrade their infrastruture, then Iowa Pacific attempted to flip them back onto the market with a higher sale price after implementation of the Federal Grant to upgrade their tracks. Feds caught onto this at some point and asked for their money back, apparently there was a duration of ownership in the grant terms? Not sure. Also a lot of the private railway passenger cars are not necessarily owned but were leased to Iowa Pacific via their original private owners, similar with some of the locomotives. Additionally, SLRG owes over $2 million in property taxes that have not been collected yet. Trustee apparently has his hands full trying to sort it all out. I am still interested in what is going to happen to former Milwaukee Road Pullman Skytop Obs Coffee Creek. It would be a disaster to see it scraped. Really would like to see it rebuilt.
