West Coast Fires Causing Chaos
Posted by beaulieu on Tuesday, September 8, 2020 5:34 PM

The fires on the West Coast are causing chaos for the railroads both Class Is and Shortlines. The Oregon Pacific lost a major customer and a locomotive when the sawmill burnt down. The BNSF line at Paterson, WA(along the Columbia River) is closed due to fire burning ties, Amtrak #27 turned at Wishram, WA to become #28. The Columbia Basin Rwy lost the wooden trestle portion of the bridge at Gibbon, WA over the Yakima River. The Cascade and Columbia River RR is threatened at many points. Incredible photos over on the Trainorders website.

And now they're saying that one of the fires was likely caused by, of all things, a gender reveal.

They haven't said if it's a boy or a girl...

I'm surprised that they are even allowed to care.

This was a couple days ago in an area WNW of San Bernardino. A big wildfire in Arizona got started by a similar gender reveal party a couple of years ago.

The fires in the PNW are being driven by hot dry winds similar to the Santa Ana's in SoCal and Diablo's in NorCal. The animated GOES West pictures of the West Coast were impressive with the fires starting in NorCal, Oregon and Washington and the smoke plumes rapidly being blown out over the Pacific.
