SLRG units far from home
Posted by bedell on Sunday, September 6, 2020 5:40 PM

On a recent drive though Portland, CO (east of Florence and Canon City) I spotted two or three locomotives with San Luis and Rio Grande markings.  Anyone know why they are there?

The SL&RG is in bankruptcy.  Last I heard the Rio Grande Scenic was shut down, so maybe they are renting out some units.

The SLRG reporting mark has been used for many of Ed Ellis' various other operations.  The ex-NJT power used on the "Hoosier State" was one example.

The daily commute is part of everyday life but I get two rides a day out of it. Paul
